Rhodes Baseball Defeats Piedmont

The Rhodes baseball team defeated Piedmont College this afternoon 4-3, on a rain soaked Stauffer Field.  Junior Andy Holt picked up the victory for the Lynx going seven strong innings, striking out four and gave up one earned run.  Holt improves to 2-1 on the year.  Freshman Taylor Babich pitched the final two frames to pick up his first save of the year.  Babich retired the side in order in both of his innings. 

Senior Daniel Vanaman had another strong day at the plate going 2-3, with a double, walk, one run scored and an RBI.  Junior Mason Mosby was 2-4 on the day with a triple and a run scored.  Senior Richard Hurd had a game tying two out single to knot the game at 2 in the bottom of the fifth.  Vanaman follow with a double down the left field line, which drove in Junior J.R. Bizzell to put  the Lynx up 3-2.  The Lynx added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Sophomore Brooks Royer hit a sacrifice fly to center to drive in Mosby who led off the inning with a triple.

Lynx will hit the road for the remainder of the weekend.  They will take on Maryville College in a double header Sunday afternoon.  The first game is set to start at 12:00 EST.  Both games will be seven innings.
